WRESTLEMANIA I
I have given myself the task of ranking all of the WWF/WWE superstars from all the Pay Per Views spanning from 1985 to the present day. The rankings will be based purely on results, which I will use a points system that I have created linked to each event and match. So, here we go...
In 1985 the WWF made it's first Pay Per View event - Wrestlemania.
This event took place at Madison Square Garden in New York, with a live attendance of 19,121.
The first match on the card, and first ever WWF Pay Per View match, was TITO SANTAN vs THE EXECUTIONER (Buddy Rose)This was Buddy Roses only Pay Per View match for the WWF. Tito Santana submitted The Executioner with a figure four leglock after 4 minutes 49 seconds of the contest.
Points: Tito Santana 20 (for winning the match)
The Executioner -10 (for losing the match)
Bundy squashed Jones, with the WWF officially giving a record time of 9 seconds for. The match actually lasted 25 seconds. This would be SD Jones' only Pay Per View match for the WWF.
Points: Special Delivery Jones -10 (for losing the match) King Kong Bundy 20 (for winning the match)
MATT BORNE vs RICKY STEAMBOAT. Matt Borne later gimmicked Doink the Clown. Steamboat defeated Borne with a flying crossbody for the pin, in a time of 4 minutes 39 seconds
Points: Matt Borne -10 (for losing the match) Ricky Steamboat 20 (for winning the match)
DAVID SAMMARTINO (accompanied by his father Bruno Sammartino) vs BRUTUS BEEFCAKE (accompanied by Johnny Valiant). This would be David Sammartinos only PPV match for the WWF. This contest ended in a double disqualification after 11 minutes 43 seconds of action.
Points: Both Wrestlers score 5 points for drawing the match.JUNKYARD DOG vs GREG VALENTINE (c) (accompanied by Jimmy Hart). This match was for the WWF Intercontinental Championship. Valentine walked out of the contest, after the decision of him pinning Junkyard Dog got reversed due to him having his feet on the rope during the pinfall. Therefore, Junkyard Dog won the contest by count-out after 6 mins 55 secs. Valentine retained the title due to it being a countout.
Points: Junkyard Dog 25 points (20 for winning plus 5 for competing for the Intercontinental title)
Greg Valentine -5 points (-10 for winning plus 5 for competing for the Intercontinental title)
Tag Points: Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff (30 points, 20 for winning match and 10 for winning the tag title) , The U.S. Express -5 points (-10 for losing and 5 for competing in the tag title match)
Individual Points (half of tag points): Iron Sheik 15 points, Nikolai Volkoff 15, Barry Windham -2.5, Mike Rotundo -2.5
Points: Andre the Giant 20 points (for winning the match) , Big John Studd -10 points (for losing the match)
Points: Wendi Richter 31 points (20 points for winning match plus 11 points for winning womens title) Leilani Kai -4.5 points (10 points for losing and 5.5 for competing in womens title match)
THE MAIN EVENT
Hogan pinned Orndorff after Orton mistakenly hit Orndorff. Time 13 minutes 34 seconds.
Tag Points: Hulk Hogan / Mr T 30 points (20 points for winning and 10 points for being in the main event) Roddy Piper / Paul Orndorff 0 points (-10 points for losing and 10 points for main event)
